is a mountain range on a peninsula which is a great habitat for the wild sheep. Wild sheep are natural born climbers and are mostly found in mountain range areas. Large amount of rain, and water are washed upon the river beds on the peninsula. This means that it is easier for the animals to be hydrated when traveling through the dry and hot part of Baja California. Puma and Lynx are also good at climbing so this mountain range doesn't effect them very much. On the other hand Coyotes and Deers have trouble climbing so its a little harder for them to adapt. This also means that the white tail deer are a lot more vulnerable then sheep due to the fact or their poor climbing skills. Here's a photo of the peninsula of Baja California. Also a type of food these animals eat are poaceae which is a type of plant, that is grown at high elevation on the peninsula.

In the fall, the rams compete for ewes by having butting contests. They charge each other at speeds of more than 20 mph, their foreheads crashing with a crack that can be heard more than a mile away. These battles may last as long as 24 hours.

The importance of mangroves for fisheries is not because of the total biomass of organisms captured within the ecosystem but the role of the mangrove as breeding, growing, refuge, and feeding zones for marine organisms that may later migrate to adjacent coastal waters or to the ocean.

Mangrove trees are the basic and most visible component of the mangrove ecosystem growing in the intertidal zone. The term "mangrove" is used to name both the trees and the community that is composed of a wide range of organisms belonging to different systematic groups. They include bacteria, fungi, microalgae, invertebrates, birds, and mammals. The mangrove ecosystems cover roughly 60-75% of tropical and subtropical coastlines. All countries in Latin America, both on the Atlantic and the Pacific, have mangroves covering about 4,000,000 hectares. Baja California Sur, Mexico is the northern distribution area on the Pacific side of the Americas.

The soapberry family has over 1300 species worldwide, many of which are toxic. The only edible product that is likely to be familiar is lychee; other species are lumber trees or oilseed crops.

Before the Spaniards arrived, the peninsula of Baja California was inhabited by three major ethnic groups: the Cochimí in the north, the Guaycura in the central section and the Pericú on the southern cape. Archaeological artifacts suggest that these tribes inhabited the peninsula and Cedros Island as early as 9,000-10,000 years ago. The Cochimí, who lived on the mainland, were hunters and gatherers, but an isolated group of Cochimí living on Cedros Island developed a fairly complex agricultural system. The Guaycura and the Pericú lived by hunting, gathering and fishing. Their descendants still live in Baja California, primarily on the northernmost part of the peninsula.
